The
Leopold Center
The Leopold Center is located at Iowa State University and has
three primary objectives: to identify and reduce negative impacts
of agriculture on natural resources and rural communities, to
develop profitable farming systems that conserve natural resources,
to work with ISU Extension and other groups to inform the public
of new research findings.

food in your area. Local Harvest is a not-for-profit venture
to sprout and grow a definitive and reliable "living"
public directory of small farms nationwide, and in so doing
to provide people with direct contact to farms in their local
area.

Organic Farmers and Gardners Association
The purpose of MOFGA, the oldest and largest state organic organization
in the USA, is to help farmers and gardeners grow organic food,
to protect the environment, to promote stewardship of natural
resources, to increase local food production, to support sustainable
rural communities, and to illuminate for consumers the connections
among healthful food, environmentally sound farming practices,
and vital local communities.

The Minnesota Project
A nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental protection
and sustainable development in greater Minnesota. We seek to
learn from and integrate those value systems that society has
mistakenly set forth as contradictory, including economic and
environmental benefit, traditional and emerging lifestyles,
rural and urban perspectives, advocacy for communities and community
self-direction. We see areas of commonality between these values,
and do not wish to perpetuate dualistic thinking. Our current
programs in energy, agriculture, and building sustainable communities
are built around the integration of economy, environment and
strong rural communities.

The Organic Trade Association (OTA) is a membership based business

as the Organic Foods Production Association of North America,
the Organic Trade Association works to promote organic products
in the marketplace and to protect the integrity of organic standards.

Materials Review Institute
OMRI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to benefit
the organic community and the general public. Its primary mission
is to publish and disseminate generic and specific (brand name)
lists of materials allowed and prohibited for use in the production,
processing, and handling of organic food and fiber. OMRI also
conducts scientific research and education on the use of materials
by the organic industry.

SARE works to increase knowledge about -- and help farmers and
ranchers adopt -- practices that are economically viable, environmentally

SARE administers a competitive grants program first funded by
