Info
About Smart Energy Management: The
project engages a statewide network of producers, local
government representatives, industry representatives,
and non-profit organizations, including the National Center
for Appropriate Technology (NCAT), the nation’s
expert on renewable energy in agriculture. The project
trains producers in skills to evaluate potential renewable
energy on their farms and to pursue strategies of implementation.
The
Ecological Farming Association has launched a two-year
training program aimed at improving energy management
and increasing energy sustainability on California farms,
vineyards, and ranches. Smart Energy Management for Farmers
provides California farmers with skills and resources
to decrease fossil fuel use through energy conservation
and renewable energy applications. The project connects
farmers with technical experts and producer peers in an
on-farm setting using Eco-Farm's program model developed
through 25 years of close work with farmers.
