There is a groundswell of interest in healthy soils and regenerative agriculture throughout the U.S. and across the globe, due in part to the realization that improving soil health can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and sequester carbon. Given the abdication of responsibility by the Trump Administration and Congress on climate policy, we have to get creative at the state level and in the marketplace to unleash the unique and powerful role that farmers and ranchers can play to address the climate crisis by improving soil health. In this session we will explore a suite of policies, funding mechanisms, and market-based certification strategies to incentivize and scale up soil health and regenerative farming practices.
This workshop will introduce the new Regenerative Organic Certification. Public comment on the requirements of certification is open until November 30, 2017.
