Organic farming internship opportunity
Big Mesa Farm in Comptche, Ca is seeking to build the 2021 team! We are offering an internship opportunities starting now thru the spring. Work schedule is more or less 6 hours a day for 4-5 days a week. We prefer a commitment to stay a minimum of 3 months but will consider shorter requests. This is a hands on learning experience in production farming. Jobs include harvest, pruning, planting, seeding, and selling at farmers markets. This is a fast paced, community and work oriented environment with alot of learning, and also self motivation. Monthly stipend of $1500. Accommodation is a cute cabin, and use of a communal bathouse and kitchen. Up to two interns accepted.
We cultivate 5 acres of certified organic vegetables including 5 greenhouses. Crops include tomatoes, summer squash, cucumbers, melons, lettuce, beets, carrots, flowers and much more! We are 100% solar powered and do our best to prioritize regenerative farming practices such as cover cropping, compost, and minimal tillage. The farm is owned and operated by Caymin who has over 15 years experience with row crops and loves to share knowledge and include the team in problem solving and decision making. We have a good time, enjoy working outside, work hard, and are committed to our production of local produce. We also have a small herd of goats and sheep guarded by Sandy the pyrenees to mow the grass and for the cute company!
The farm is located one half hour from the coastal town of mendocino in a small mountain valley.
