Job Description: 

This position manages and ensures the effectiveness of all day-to day operations of the school garden on UWC-USA's 20 acre Agroecology Research Center and provides support for our experiential learning program. The Agroecology Program Manager works with students participating in UWC-USA’s Experiential Education program, facilitating work crews, providing instruction in sustainable agriculture, supporting safety practices and managing program resources.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities
Facilities Management
Manage all aspects of vegetable production, including irrigation, soil management, weed management, plant propagation, pest management, harvesting & distribution.
Maintain and expand perennial plantings for food production and habitat quality.
Maintain all farm equipment.
Conduct ongoing land management activities, including trail maintenance work.
Manage composting operations, including transportation of food waste and management of compost system.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Agroecology Research Center.

Experiential/Academic
Organize and Lead 4-6 Experiential Education activities per week, including Farm Crews.
Help organize and lead Farm Camps and other Farm-based activities and events.
Support student research on Farm-based Internal Assessments and Extended Essays.
Help lead service days/retreats and other sustainability activities.
Drive for ExEd activities and events when needed
Assist with and participate in major ExEd campus events
Co-lead Southwest Studies or Project Week.

Education & Experience: 

Education or Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required with focus in experiential education, resource management, or natural sciences.
Four or more years leading experiential education activities for teenagers.
Four or more years experience managing a sustainable agriculture site.
