Southwest Colorado Agrihood seeking assistant farm manager for 2022 season. 1 acre of 30" permanent raised beds under no-till management. Greenhouse and high tunnel, small flock of chickens, apiary and perennial flowers bordering fields. Farm markets primarily wholesale to local restaurants and natural food stores, while increasing retail sales with on-site farm stand.
•Farm Operations - Support farm manager in season-long vegetable production using successions of direct seeded and transplanted crops to adequately meet needs of markets. Assist with bed-preparation, irrigation, and cultivation needs in all plots. Follow the farm production plan and keep records of weekly progress.
•Sales and Revenue Management - Manage current customer base (wholesale and retail/online) while attracting new customers and revenue streams through various marketing and promotional strategies endorsed by the Board and Farm Manager. Open, close and fulfill orders on the online farm stand. Respond promptly to questions from customers, accounts and management via email and phone.
•Social Media Management - Utilize social media outlets (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) to promote the farm throughout the season. Generate content to add to weekly newsletter.
•Personnel Management - Efficiently utilize volunteers for farm operations including acquisition and supervision. Direct seasonal farm staff as needed in proper methods of vegetable production and harvest.
•Safety - Through coordination with the farm manager, provide a safe environment for staff and others that visit the farm. Anticipate and correct dangerous work habits of staff. Continue to use USDA Food Safety Rule as guide for food-safe operations in field and post-harvest areas.
Minimum of 2 years experience in small scale market farming
Sound base knowledge of organic practices and food safety
