Job timeline: June 16th – August 21st (campers arrive June 27th)
Additional employment is potentially available for 2-3 weeks after the camp season.
The chosen applicant will direct camper-based gardening activities at the Camps’ Garden Center which currently includes eight 4’ X 16’ raised bed gardens. The Garden Coordinator will be in charge of all vegetable care and camper gardening activities.
During program activities, the Garden Coordinator will have two additional staff members available to assist in running four, 50-minute gardening activities per day. Each 50-minute activity will involve 8-12 campers between ages 8-16. The Garden Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining the garden, harvesting produce, and supplying it to the kitchen for use in the dining hall throughout the growing season.
1-2 years of experience working with raised bed gardens
Previous experience teaching / working with youth in a school, summer camp, or outdoor education setting
21+ in age (preferred, but not required)
Farming skills and large propagation knowledge
Experience working with low/high tunnels
Knowledge of different cultivating techniques
Enthusiastic about sustainability and local food systems
Willing to live in a cabin with and mentor a group of campers
