Bernier Farms is an organically certified, well established small farm in Sonoma County. We grow vegetables for restaurants, a local distributor of organic produce, and at our local farmers market. We grow a diverse selection of veggies and fruits and we specialize in garlic, sold as seed garlic to nurseries and on line.
We are looking to fill two possible positions as soon as possible, one as entry level crew member and one as someone who has at least 3 years of farming experience and who would be interested in a lead position on the farm. This is a full time job through October.
Both positions will be composed of planting, maintaining, and harvesting vegetables. Both positions will require irrigation, greenhouse seeding and cultivating which the applicant will learn if the applicant does not have those skills. Marketing is also a skill that can be acquired through this work.
Pay will be based on experience and ability. There is affordable housing on site.
Help accomplish the goals of fieldwork, harvest, and completing the tasks at hand daily.
Work safely paying attention to keeping yourself in good physical shape.
Enjoy the process of learning whether you have experience or not and be willing to share your knowledge, ideas and experience with us. Have a sense of humor
The crew members harvest, transplant, irrigate and maintain the garden beds daily. Greenhouse seeding, organizing, and cleaning and sorting garlic for sales are often done in the afternoon.
It is an asset to have crew members who can speak Spanish as well as English.
It is preferred that an applicant would have had 1 or more years of farm experience, a current driver's license, an interest in farming as a career.
It is definitely valuable to have experience with rototillers, weed wackers and tractors.
