We're looking for an organized, hard-working, physically strong, communicative and good-natured individual with at least 2 years prior agriculture experience (preference for experience growing cut-flowers and herbs) to work on the day-to-day field operations of a primarily no-till, small-scale flower farm. Ideal candidate works well independently and alongside others, is comfortable making daily decisions in the field based on knowledge of the overall system, and feels confident in problem-solving when needed. Someone who is comfortable taking instruction, is eager to learn, and who brings curiosity and enthusiasm to their work.
This is a season-long position, hourly pay, running March-November 2021. Schedule is flexible and can be created at the beginning of the growing season to fit the needs of the hire as well as of the farm, though looking for a commitment of 20-30 hours a week, 4-5 days a week for April-October, less on the tails of the season (March/November).
Duties will include greenhouse work (seeding, potting up, watering), field work (bed prep, transplanting, weed management, trellising, irrigation), and harvesting (cut flowers and herbs, for wholesale and retail). While this position is for a farmer with flower growing experience, floral design experience is a plus, but not mandatory. We will have two other experienced designers on our team, as well as a head floral designer. Opportunity to learn more floral design if desired. We have a lot of fun at our farm. Ideal candidate is willing to have fun and enjoys the daily challenges and joys of small-scale agriculture.
Potential and desire for longer term employment beyond the 2021 season if the fit is right.
Housing, not included, though if we fall in love with you, which is a given if we want to hire you, we can help you to find affordable housing in the area - just ask!
At least 2 years prior agriculture experience (preference for experience growing and harvesting cut-flowers and herbs) . Experience with no-till techiniques a plus, as well as comfort with basic farm machinery - weedwacker, mower, chainsaw, basic carpentry.
Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
