The Work: We are building a statewide sustainable farming organization(Partners IN Food and Farming)
to bring together a coalition of farmers and food and farming organizations to strengthen the food
system in Indiana. Through focused collaboration, we will provide Indiana farmers with a variety of
educational, networking, mentoring, and financial opportunities that will improve the financial viability,
sense of community, and ability to pursue their farming visions. Partners IN Food and Farming (PIFF) is
working closely with food system advocates like food councils, food hubs, nonprofits who work on food
access, community gardens, farmers markets, chefs, institutions who buy local food, universities, and

Position Summary
The Director of Partnerships will work closely with and as a member of PIFF’s triumvirate co-leadership
team, consisting of two other directors: Director of Operations and Director of Farmer Programs, who
are both part-time. It is our goal to create a horizontal leadership team that complements each other's
work efforts and styles to create a robust and strong organization.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Major functions include:
● Create and maintain robust relationships throughout the state with multiple stakeholders involved
in the agricultural community
● Convene stakeholders to encourage collaboration among partners statewide, ranging from food
councils and value chain coordinators to farmers, institutional buyers, eaters, and others
● Coordinate the creation of board policies and strategic plan with the Board of Directors as well as
the overall launch, administration, and management of the organization. Guidance and direction
are provided by the President of the Board, and by the Board and its Executive Committee.
● Implement the strategic plan and objectives of the organization
● With the chair, to enable the Board to fulfill its governance function
● Spearhead all fundraising efforts, including but not limited to grants, major donors, and sponsors

Education & Experience: 

● Committed to working as a valued and equal member of the leadership team
● 2-5 years years’ senior nonprofit management experience or other relevant experience
● Experience with grant writing and fundraising
● Experience managing finances
● A background in food and agriculture issues
● Strong written and oral communication skills with public speaking experience
● Proficiency in general office tools such as word processing, electronic communications, and
database management
● Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to PIFF’s goals
● Ease in managing multiple projects simultaneously, working independently and under a
deadline, prioritizing responsibilities, taking initiative, and protecting confidential information
● Values collaboration
● Experience facilitating groups
● Values building relationships and empowering stakeholders
● Careful and sensitive professional judgment
