We are a community nonprofit organization based in Sacramento that is looking for an Executive Leader to further social justice and community-driven deliverables.

The Organization: Alchemist Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a mission driven organization that connects communities to land, food and opportunity. Community development corporations are historically known for responding to their community's greatest needs. Alchemist CDC is known for enhancing the quality of life in under-resourced communities by improving access to healthy foods, implementing community-supported garden projects, and fostering economic self-sufficiency through business entrepreneurship.

The Position: We’re looking for a full-time Executive Director. The pay range we’re offering is $65,000 - $75,000 DOE.

The Location: Alchemist CDC is based in Sacramento, CA and operates out of the Fruit Ridge Community Collaborative (FRCC). The FRCC campus serves as a community hub in the federally designated Promise Zone area of Oak Park. This is a great place to work as the former elementary school houses and supports over 20 grassroots nonprofits, levering resources and encouraging collaboration.

Duties & Responsibilities: 


A commitment to Alchemist CDC’s mission with an understanding of social equity principles and strategies to overcome barriers to food and economic security, resulting in community development and investment.


Fundraising - manage the financial sustainability of the organization, including fundraising from a wide range of sources (including grants, sponsorships, donors, etc.).

Community Engagement & Partnerships – actively build coalitions and maintain positive relationships with partners across multiple sectors including nonprofit, public and private stakeholders.

Strategic Planning – ensure program alignment with mission, community goals and long-term organization vision and needs while working closely with Board of Directors and staff.

Leadership – strength in management and ability to effectively lead both up and down the organization by fostering an inclusive and accountable work culture.

Education & Experience: 

-Five+ years nonprofit management or supervisory experience
-Personal qualities of integrity and credibility
-Excellent public speaking and written communication skills with a strong attention to details
-Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Nonprofit Management, Community Development, Organizing & Advocacy, Planning, Public Policy or equivalent preferred
