After 3 years running Riverhill Farm in Nevada City, Antonio Garza and Daylin Wade are launching Feeding Crane Farm in Penn Valley. We are a 9 acre diversified vegetable farm growing for the direct market. Our certified organic vegetables are sold to local restaurants, grocers, and farmers markets in Nevada County. Our goal is to produce beautiful, nutrient dense, and affordable produce for our community. Our farm is located in the rolling oak woodlands at the base of Pilot Peak. The farm is surrounded by open range lands, and wild woodlands that support abundant bird life. We are about 15 to 20 minutes from Grass Valley and Nevada City.
Position begins immediately, and goes through October 31st.
(We are possibly open to shorter stays for a stellar candidate, but no less than 3 months).
We aim for 8 hour work days either Monday-Friday, or Tuesday-Saturday, depending on the role. Additional Saturday markets are worked on a rotating schedule.
Pay is 13$/hour.
No housing is provided on site.
You will be involved in every area of the farm from the greenhouse to the farmers markets. We explain our goals and why we are engaging in the tasks at hand. With the help of our returning crew and crew leader, we foster a hardworking but fun environment. We are happy to explain and show the financial side of farming, as well as the agricultural nuts and bolts of our approach to all crew members.
Previous farm experience is ideal. Evidence of a strong work ethic and capacity to do outdoor labor is required.
Ability to collaborate and cooperate in a close work setting is necessary, as we are a 6-8 person crew who navigates all the nuances and joyous challenges of farming as a team.
A clean driving record would be required to conduct deliveries or operate farmers markets.
