Job Description: 

Greenhouse planting, watering and tending for on-farm seedling production
Basic farm care including irrigation, animal chores, tool maintenance, weeding, planting, harvesting
Participates in fieldwork with efficient, thorough methods to achieve the task, and participates in the process while working alongside the rest of the farm crew.
Works with the Farm team to create a healthy workflow and balancing of tasks to honor the weather, energy levels, and getting tasks completed. This could look like adjustments to the start time for the day, when breaks happen, the duration of lunch and an end time for the day depending on a variety of factors.
Ensuring the harvest of seeds in a timely manner as directed by the Farm Manager.
Processing and caring for the seeds up until the transfer of care to the Seed Barn.
Proactive communication and Farm team collaboration with the Seed Barn Crew throughout the season as needed

Duties & Responsibilities:

Proactively determines needs before they become a problem; is empowered to take necessary steps to resolve matters in a timely and professional way.
Engages in proactive communication and is willing to resolve conflicts in a timely manner.
Participate in Leadership team meetings to fulfill various strategies to ensure the growth and thrive mentality of the brand and support Siskiyou Seeds.
Knowledge and practice of Siskiyou Seeds Policies and Procedures.
Detailed record keeping of farm data as directed.
Efficient use of time and focus on the tasks at hand.

Education & Experience: 

Vegetable farm or garden experience, knowledgeable of plant growth & care, farming ways, and lifestyle.
Some computer skills & data entry, communication skills, and troubleshooting skills
Proficiency at communication amongst a team.
Must be able to stand and squat for extended periods of the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Must be able to work in potentially challenging environmental conditions (ie: smoke, heat, cats, farm animals such as dogs, sheep and ducks.)
Good attention to detail to assist with record-keeping and labeling.
Preference is given to local applicants as on farm housing may not be available.
