Our Table is a cooperative of farmers, producers and consumers working together to create a community based food system. Our farm is located 15 miles south of Portland and grows a mix of produce for our own on-farm grocery store and kitchen, as well as for CSA, restaurants and small grocery stores in and around the greater Portland area. We grow vegetables, berries, flowers, tree-fruit, chickens, and bees year-round and are looking for the right individual to join us!

We are seeking a full-time, experienced farmer to act as our pack out and wholesale lead. Ideal candidates are personable, self-motivated, detail oriented, enjoy working in a group, and love selling produce to chefs and grocery store buyers. The work requires the ability to nurture numerous customer relationships, direct harvest, set quality standards, and lead a variable crew in pack out tasks. A sharp mind, the ability to juggle multiple tasks, good judgment, and a great sense of humor are necessary. The job also involves crop planning and field work. There are opportunities to participate in farm events, educational activities, and various other projects at the Cooperative.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Primary responsibilities will be working with the Farm Manager and the rest of the team on the following:
+ Managing wholesale customer relationships and acting as the primary liaison between the Cooperative and chefs, grocery store buyers, and food service managers for all pre-sales and post-sales tasks
+ Preparing and publishing availability lists multiple times per week
+ Taking orders, entering invoices, generating harvest sheets and reconciling orders with availability
+ Coordinating all aspects of pack out including washing, grading, packaging, and storage for all crops including vegetables, berries, flowers, and fruit
+ Defining and implementing quality control standards for all produce leaving the farm
+ Coordinating delivery logistics with our Logistics and Facilities Lead
+ Keeping pack shed safe, clean, and organized in accordance with food safety standards
+ Crop planning
+ Greenhouse and field work including planting, cultivation, and harvest
+ Record keeping and budgeting
+ Ordering supplies for pack out
+ Be an active participant in the governance of the cooperative
+ Other duties, as necessary

Work may include deliveries and occasional driving off farm

Education & Experience: 

+ 3+ years of relevant experience work on small or medium scale mixed vegetable farms
+ Strong knowledge of fruit and vegetables (a.k.a. “produce nerd”!)
+ Detail oriented and fast learner
+ Ability to do sales and talk to customers
+ Self-motivated and able to streamline workflow
+ Ability to work efficiently alone or in a group
+ Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work with a diverse group of people
+ Ability to keep clear, handwritten and electronic records
+ Positive attitude in all types of weather
+ Experience with a wide range of tools and equipment.
+ Willingness to participate in a startup environment where it will be necessary to wear many “hats” at different times
+ Commitment to cooperative principals

+ Experience driving a large delivery van a plus
+ Spanish language skills a plus
