Feeding Crane Farm is looking for 3 full-time crew members to join our team March-November 2023. We work 40 hour weeks, Monday through Friday.
$15-$18 DOE plus vegetables for personal use.
Feeding Crane Farm was founded in 2021 by Antonio Garza and Daylin Wade in Penn Valley, California. Along with our farm manager Takahiro Sasaki and crew, we farm approximately nine cultivated acres in diverse seasonal vegetables with a specialization in tomatoes, peppers, melons, and winter squash. We sell at two farmers markets (Truckee and Nevada City), to multiple grocery stores, restaurants, and (new this year) a multi-farm CSA.
The ideal candidate has at least one year of farm experience, has a love of production agriculture, is self-motivated, and enjoys physical work in a small team setting. While we are hiring for seasonal positions (March-November) we are moving toward year-round production and are aiming for at least one of these positions to become year-round. We are all involved in almost every task, but as the season progresses we would love to see crew members (who have demonstrated ability) take leadership in areas of the farm that they are passionate about. Potential areas that we see as a need include: tractor cultivation, vegetable wash/pack, and farmers market lead. This is an opportunity to grow in experience, skill, and compensation.
Applicants must be:
comfortable with heat,
able to safely lift 40 pounds,
committed to learning and developing the skills and craft of farming
able to work at a fast pace with strong attention to detail
- Field and soil preparation
- Washing and Packing
- Rotation through farmers market coverage
- Keeping pace and motivation
We are looking for applicants with at least one year of farm experience, but please get in touch anyway if you don't have farm experience but are very motivated and have experience working physically outdoors or in a restaurant kitchen)
