We are seeking a motivated individual to fill our Market Manager position. This person is responsible for managing administrative tasks related to the 6 farmers markets that we participate in weekly as well as our farmstand and u-pick. This is a great opportunity for someone to be a part of a well established farming operation, successful farmer market program, and rapidly growing farmstand and u-pick enterprise. This individual works closely with the farm staff and attends weekly meetings and participates in both big picture strategizing and daily operational decisions.
Compensation and Housing:
This is a year-round position. Starting pay commensurate with experience. Housing may be available for rent on the farm.
Position is part time and flexible in terms of hours. This position could be combined with other farm work to become full-time.
-Scheduling farmers market and farmstand staff.
-Hiring and training new farmers market and farmstand staff.
-Order, maintain, and organize supplies.
-Complete Farmers Market administrative tasks including: paperwork and tracking sales.
-Maintain and improve farmers market and farmstand display material, set-up, and general systems.
-Vending at farmers market(s) and/or the farmstand, either regularly or as a sub, which includes driving a box truck, customer service, detailed record-keeping, attention to detail, and repetitive heavy lifting.
-Facilitate our seasonal strawberry u-pick and pumpkin patch.
-Contribute to social media input, website updates, and general outreach and advertising.
-General field work and participation in projects on the farm as needed.
-The work requires the physical and mental capacity to contribute to an often rigorous, fast-paced, and deeply rewarding agricultural practice.
-Good office-related skills.
-Excellent organizational abilities.
-Excellent people skills.
-Familiarity with a broad, diverse amount of produce.
-Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
-Willing to make a one year minimum commitment.
-Experience working on a farm is desired, but not required.
-The ability to speak Spanish is desired, but not required.
-Applicant should be self-motivated, hardworking, eager to learn, great multi-tasker, and be in good physical condition. Ability to perform certain tasks such as heavy lifting (over 50#), repetitive grasping, standing, bending, and walking (No applicant will be rejected because of a condition or impairment that, with reasonable accommodation, does not prevent performance of work.)
