Job Description:

We are looking for 1 positive, communicative and detail-oriented individual to join our 2022 farm team. An ideal Field Lead has previous farming and leadership experience, enjoys working both on a team and individually and is ready for challenging, hard work. We love growing and selling food and hope that you do too! Position starts in March through December with year round employment opportunities. Applications are reviewed as received.

Position Summary/Responsibilities: The Field Lead’s primary responsibilities are the day-to-day management of harvest operations. This position will coordinate and direct the Farm Crew during harvest periods. Harvest is typically 2-3 days per week, increasing to almost daily in the fall. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that produce is harvested and out of the field in an efficient and timely manner, meeting daily deadlines. You will also be responsible for leading some non-harvest field tasks such as regular crop maintenance.

This is hard work and requires a positive attitude and clear, kind, direct communication. An ideal candidate is both self-motivated and able to work in a team. You will need to multitask and make swift decisions about small details while keeping larger goals in mind. This position reports directly to Nick, farm owner. It requires regular, effective communication between yourself and our highly-valued Farm Crew, as well as the Post Harvest Lead position and the farm owner as to prioritization in daily task management.

We are a small diversified operation, so tasks are varied and fast-paced. We frequently switch jobs throughout the day, partially out of necessity and partially to reduce repetitive motions. We have invested heavily in mechanization to alleviate the strain of farm tasks, but it is still hard manual labor. Performing repetitive tasks in all weather conditions is the core of farm work. Days will include many hours of standing, kneeling, and lifting.

Schedule:
Full Time: Approximately 40 hours per week March-December, sometimes less in the spring/fall shoulder season
Part-Time winter Work available to those interested in returning for the following season
Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, though some individuals may be scheduled Monday to Friday.
Hours typically run from 8-5, weather-dependent, with potentially longer days during peak season depending on farm needs.

Compensation:
$17.00/hour DOE
Paid Sick Leave (1 hour accrued per 40 hours worked, available after 90 days of employment).
Paid Family Medical Leave (WA state program).
Workers’ compensation insurance via L&I.
Free/discounted farm produce.
Learning opportunities on a diversified vegetable farm.
We may be able to help find housing in the area if needed.
Performance-based and year-end bonuses possible.
Overtime pay: time and a half above 55 hours a week.

Education & Experience:
