We are looking for a strong visual and verbal storyteller to lead all marketing, communications, and PR aspects of Our Table Cooperative based in the Portland, Oregon area. Our Table Cooperative was created out of a heartfelt realization that there are numerous systemic challenges to re-building a local food economy. This project is all about solutions to these challenges. We have created a regional food cooperative that embraces the ethics and systems design of permaculture, the fertility and deep connection to the land of Biodynamics, controls costs by sharing resources, and builds enormous amounts of social capital and skills while having a whole lot of fun. Our Table Cooperative brings together three groups of stakeholders into a single vertically integrated entity – workers, independent regional producers, and consumers.
Communications & Branding
+ Oversee all consumer-facing communications by crafting content for the Cooperative’s website, email newsletters, social media, and other channels.
+ Create regular electronic and print media campaigns to support the goals of the Cooperative.
+ Co-manage multiple customer touchpoints, including the general e-mail inbox and the Co-op’s main phone line, to serve as the first point of contact for customers and partners.
+ Collaborate on regular communications to various stakeholder groups such as staff, members, investors, etc.
+ Act as the brand champion and ambassador for the Cooperative.
+ Ensure brand integrity of all communications from the Cooperative.
+ Share the Cooperative’s story at community events and gatherings, hosted both on and off the farm, to grow local awareness and understanding of our business (e.g. community presentations, event tabling).
+ Maintain relationships with strategic partners (e.g. county tourism departments, promotional food & farm organizations, chamber of commerce) by providing the

Media & PR
+ Respond to media inquiries.
+ Organize and host visits.
+ Maintain press pages on website with headlines and media kit.
+ Research and plan a PR schedule.
+ Grow and maintain consistent relationships with local media to facilitate frequent story pitching.
+ Help conduct market research as needed.
+ Collaborate with farmers on crop planning and variety selection.
+ Collaborate with sales and production staff on pricing and packaging.
+ Be an active participant in the governance of the Cooperative.
+ Promote sustainable business practices and environmental responsibility.
+ Other duties, as necessary.
+ Collaborate with Board and staff to hone the Cooperative’s “story”.
+ Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related fields.
+ A minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing, communication, sales, or related areas.
+ Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills.
+ Excellent customer relations and people skills.
+ Social media expertise.
+ Graphic design and photography skills (familiarity with graphic design software required).
+ Web authoring skills (basic HTML and CSS knowledge a plus).
+ Proven leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, and willingness to work hard with a diverse group of people.
+ Value community, sustainability, ethics, passion for food and fun.
+ Demonstrate a strong love of food, nutrition, and healthy local economies.
+ Experience with start-up business “outside the box” thinking and innovation a plus. Willingness to participate in a start-up environment where it will be necessary to wear many “hats” at different times.
+ Experience with farming a plus.
+ Familiarity and involvement with the Portland, Oregon area food scene a plus.
+ Have a commitment to cooperative principles.
