Job Description:

POSITION: Institutional Sales Partnerships & CSA Manager
ORGANIZATION: The Abundant Table (501(c)3 non-profit),, @theabundanttable
HOURS: 35 hours/week
LOCATION: Ventura County, CA (farm and office in Camarillo, CA)

This is a three year grant funded position through the USDA Farmer’s Market Promotion Program. To create new and expand existing institutional food service sales of both whole and lightly processed produce, this project initiates a comprehensive “relationship building campaign” between local farmers, institutions such as schools, hospitals and universities, and individual low-income consumers that seek to educate and solidify sale commitments. Field trips to The Abundant Table (TAT)’s farm and food hub will deepen the relationship between producer and consumer. Pop up farm stands at the schools, hospitals and other community venues will highlight nutrition education and serve as a sales outlets for produce aggregated from local farms, as well as, enable the purchase of CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) boxes via EBT. Professional trainings and “meet & greets” between farmer and food service director/worker will build preference for and commitment to purchasing locally sourced and traceable produce. Expanded demand for individual sales will be facilitated through a multi-farm CSA that: (1) provides weekly home delivery of culturally relevant produce to farmworker families, an affordable sales model introduced and sustained through an educational campaign and delivery services provided by a paid community-based “promotora;” and (2) a sliding scale “CSA prescription” program for low income patients within the Ventura County Medical Healthcare System and other local clinics, that facilitates increased vegetable intake to improve overall health.

The Abundant Table ( is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization rooted in The Episcopal Church. The Abundant Table’s mission is to change lives and food systems by creating sustainable relationships to the land and the local community. We provide a crucial and unique link in Ventura County, connecting local food production, distribution and nutrition literacy through our farm-to-school and farm-to-table initiatives. We benefit from a dedicated community of supporters that share our vision and commitment to farmworker rights, food justice, and environmental stewardship of the land.

Our programs use land and asset based approaches to empower youth and their families to advocate for sustainability, healthy eating, and food system reform in their homes, schools, and communities. Since 2009, our programs have directly served thousands of people throughout Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. Each year we provide farm and nutrition education to K-12 students through the “Farmer in the Classroom” program (at least half of the students at these schools qualify for federally-supported free and reduced price meals). We deliver approximately 150 community supported agriculture (CSA) members fresh, locally grown vegetables and manage a roadside farm store with seasonal u-pick and educational offerings. We regularly donate produce to families in need. We grow and harvest carrots and other vegetables for local school districts’ lunch programs.
