Organic farming internship opportunity
Big Mesa Farm in Comptche, Ca is seeking to build the 2020 team! We are offering summer internship opportunities during the months of june- february. Interns will work 5 hours a day for 4-5 days a week and stay for a minimum of 3 months. This is a hands on learning experience in production farming. Jobs include harvest, pruning, planting, seeding, and selling at farmers markets. This is a fast paced, community and work oriented environment with alot of learning, and also self motivation. Monthly stipend of $500. Accommodations is a beautiful, rustic, 1890’s cabin, and use of a lovely communal bathouse and kitchen.
We cultivate 5 acres of certified organic vegetables including 5 greenhouses. Crops include tomatoes, summer squash, cucumbers, melons, lettuce, beets, carrots, flowers and much more! We are 100% solar powered and do our best to prioritize regenerative farming practices such as cover cropping, compost, and minimal tillage. The farm is owned and operated by Caymin who has over 15 years experience with row crops and loves to share knowledge and include the team in problem solving and decision making. We have a good time, enjoy working outside, work hard, and are committed to our production of local produce. We also have a small herd of goats and sheep guarded by Sandy the pyrenees to mow the grass and for the cute company!
