Rooted in growing food, we cultivate nourishing environments which support health, economic development, healing and creativity through urban agriculture. We operate seven urban farms on 11-acres of land predominately located on Chicago’s south-side. These farms are production oriented with staff integrating education, training, and production to meet program goals.
Position Description: the Seasonal Farm Worker position encompasses all aspects of farm labor. We are looking for a dynamic individual who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, maintains a positive attitude, has strong communication skills with an ability to receive constructive criticism, timely, and a strong work ethic.
Compensation: Hourly compensation at $15-$18 per hour, not to exceed 40 hours per week based on experience. Seasonal workers may be employed from April through October.

-Build-out and maintenance of farm sites including seeding, planting, and tending and irrigating crops;
-Harvesting and post-harvest handling and record keeping of crops for sale and distribution;
-Pest management including hand-picking, maintaining row cover, and spraying of organic pesticides;
-Compost management and record keeping of expired crops and produce;
-Construction of hoop-houses and additional infrastructure on farm sites;
-Assisting with sales, load-in and out of produce at farmers’ markets and for the Fresh Moves Mobile Market — must be able to lift 75 pounds;
-Daily reporting to supervisor with weekly progress reports submitted;
-Daily use and safe-handling of farm equipment including tilers, wheel barrows, tools and hand-tools;
-Willingness to work and preparation for working outdoors in all weather conditions
-At least one-year of on the job training at a farm;
-Experience and knowledge of food systems and organic sustainable farming;
-Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with teens, community partners and residents;
-Excellent organizational, communication and follow-through skills;
-Maintains appropriate professional boundaries in working with co-workers and teens;
-Ability to think critically and creatively;
-Willingness to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment, but have the ability to work unsupervised to complete the job;
-Must be able to lift 75 pounds; and most importantly a
