Job Description:

Live & work on a developing permaculture farm near Big Sur and become an integral part of the development of our vision of an integrated system of sustainable living and land stewardship. Our 64 acre farm sits atop a ridge with sprawling oak woodlands, rolling hills and peaceful valleys, and plenty of sun for growing abundant gardens, orchards, vineyards and grasslands for grazing.

"Seva" in Sanskrit means "selfless service" and is an invitation to share your time and energy as an offering for the greater good of the community, in this case the farm system and the community it supports. We, Jen & Rob, owners of Living Circle Farm are yogis and teachers of yoga, and have been developing our farm over the past 6 years, working to integrate the path of yoga with creating and growing a thriving farm system that can be of benefit to us, the community that grows here, and our local community and food system. We aim to cultivate and practice the permaculture tenet of "earth care, people care & fair share" within the sustainable lifestyle we are developing on the farm.

We seek two Interns per season (with commitments of 3 months or longer) to assist with the daily work and growth of the farm including:
-daily observation
- seed starting, planting, fertilizing, watering, weeding, irrigation
- harvesting & washing produce
- assisting preparing meals and cleaning up (most meals are communal)
- assisting with implementation of new projects, including earthwork, digging, preparing planting beds, hauling soil & plants, fencing, trellising, etc
- feeding animals (goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits)
- collecting, washing & packing eggs
- assisting with monitoring bee hives and hive maintenance
- assisting or running farmer's market stand to sell eggs, produce, flowers, honey, and value added products
- keeping the farm tidy and organized for a beautiful and functional work environment
- running errands to support the team
- other homesteading duties to support off-grid living (chopping wood, preserving food, cooking, etc.)

Interns live at a beautiful & rustic off-grid campsite onsite, with furnished bell tents, a toilet, outdoor shower and epic views. Interns have shared access to our community kitchen to store food and contribute to making meals.

Daily yoga practice will be offered with instruction by owners to support our bodies and minds as we do the work of the farm. We practice awareness through action and conscious labor, offering the opportunity for self-inquiry and for the work of the farm to be experienced as a meditation. We aim to develop a supportive community atmosphere, develop genuine and lasting relationships, and offer an experience of living and working on the land in an epically beautiful landscape. This is a chance to get in on the ground work of development of a sustainable model for living and supporting a homestead and local community with vibrant, abundant, fresh food, while developing healthy life-long habits of mindfulness and personal & professional growth.

Applicants must express:
- clear & professional communication
- honesty
- integrity
- compassion
- self-awareness
- strong work ethic
- desire to live off-grid & in rustic accommodations
- desire to study & practice yoga
- willingness to work in all weather conditions
- eagerness to learn and contribute

This is an unpaid position, with education in farming and yoga, room and board being the exchange for the Intern's time and energy on the farm.
This position is ideal for someone interested in diving into daily deep yoga practice within the support of teachers and community, and for someone who is interested in learning and implementing permaculture concepts to build a functional and sustainable replicable model of design. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about yoga and living in communion with the land and wants to learn valuable life skills that can take them in many professional directions and support their growth as a compassionate and self-aware human being.
