The chosen applicant will serve as a member of our kitchen staff, responsible for food prep, cooking, and cleaning the kitchen area under the direction of our Head Chef. In addition to these duties, this kitchen staff member will also be responsible for making our kitchen/food service procedures more sustainable.

There is some flexibility with start and end dates.
Paid through YMCA payroll at $250-350/week. Also, onsite camp housing and all meals are provided.
The Food Service Sustainability Coordinator will work with our Head Chef and other kitchen staff members to prep foods efficiently, reduce food waste in the kitchen, focus on creative reuse of leftover food items, and make other suggestions to reduce our overall food waste.
We have an onsite composting system which accommodates some of our kitchen scraps. We would like to reduce our kitchen waste so that the composting system can accommodate a higher percentage of it. The Food Service Sustainability Coordinator will work with our Camp Composting Coordinator and Head Chef to achieve this, and will also be responsible for ensuring that the kitchen food scraps going into our compost system are not contaminated with non-compostable trash.
The ideal candidate will have extensive educational and/or work experience relating to food service sustainability. Previous experience working in a commercial or institutional kitchen is highly preferred. Enthusiasm about environmental sustainability is a must!
