Job Description: 

Summer educators lead experiential learning activities for campers ages 3-11 with a co-educator. Some activities may include hiking, farm chores, gardening, nature-based crafts, traditional camp games and songs, caring for farm animals, and more. Lead and Assistant Counselor positions are both available. Candidates must be able to commit to a 1-week staff orientation, 6/21-6/25 from 9a-3p, as well as the 8-week camp period, 6/28-8/20, M-F, 8:15a-4:15p.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

-Implement an age-appropriate weekly camp schedule with the assistance of the Camp Director/Assistant Director and a co-educator
-Lead a group of children in experiential activities around the farm with a co-educator (some topics include: Pollination Nation, Farm Animal Adventures, Wetland Wonders, Look I’m a Survivalist!, Gardening Adventures)
-Create a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for all campers
-Assist in daily set up and clean-up of camp activities
-Ensure all campers are signed in and out daily
-Be mindful of campers’ allergies/medications/individual needs
-Participate in at least four weekly family nights for parents and campers from approximately 5:30-8:30p on Thursday evenings
-Provide before care (7:30-8:15a) or after care (4:15-5:15p) services at least once a week
**educators receive additional pay for each evening and extended care shift

Education & Experience: 

-Experience working with children, preferably ages 3-11, in an outdoor, group setting
-A strong interest or background in farming, environmental science, education, or related field
-Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions with plants and animals
-Interest in and understanding of children, and a desire to share experiences with them
-Ability to interact with families, the public, and other educators clearly and professionally
-Creative, flexible, enthusiastic, and self-motivated
-Ability to work with minimal supervision
-Certification/ willingness to become certified in CPR and First Aid
-Must be able to walk up to 5 miles per day and lift 50 pounds
-Assistant Counselors must be at least 16 years old at time of hire
-Lead Counselors must be 18 years or older at time of hire
