Resilience, Wellness, Peacebuilding, and Behavioral Health Resources
Personal Resilience and Wellness
Directions for Box or 4x4 Breath that we practiced together in the event.
4x4 refers to the count of the breath in or out. You will breathe in for a count of four seconds and out for a count of four seconds. Start this activity by noticing your next natural outbreath. Breathe in, counting to four. Then, hold your breath in for four counts. Then, breathe out, counting to four. Then, hold your breath out for four counts. Do this breathing cycle a few times. When you are done, return to relaxed breathing. Just notice how your breath feels, or your sensations. This practice relaxes your nervous system and builds habits that help you be more resilient.
