EcoFarm is delighted to extend its deepest gratitude to the exceptionally talented artist, Marisol Morales, for her invaluable contribution to this year's conference. Her exquisite artwork graces our conference brochure and serves as the centerpiece for this year's commemorative t-shirt design.
Marisol is the Co-Director of Development for Washington Farmland Trust, an environmental organization focused on conserving threatened farmland to keep in production and making it accessible to a new generation of farmers. As a Chicana artivist, environmentalist, and a proud daughter of farmworkers, Marisol cares deeply about community, conservation, and social justice — all values instilled by her parents. These values are reflected in her artwork, where she brings attention to important issues like farmworker justice and conservation. Her mixed media artwork is primarily focused on realism, utilizing charcoal, graphite pencil, and acrylic paint. She typically depicts portraits that embody the power of people and their relationships to their environment, highlighting the contrast between verdant nature and the strife of those who work the land. She creates her art to educate and make a lasting impression for social change.
